Why November Is the Smartest Month to Order Spring Uniforms

Coaches who order spring uniforms in November get more design time and avoid the rush. Here is why early is better.

Why November Is the Smartest Month to Order Spring Uniforms

Spring feels far away in November. Fall ball has just finished, the holidays are coming and the first spring tournament is three or four months off. That is exactly why November is the smartest month to order spring uniforms.

Here are the reasons early-ordering teams have a calmer, better season, and how to start without committing to final sizes yet.

1. More time to get the design right

The first mockup is rarely the final one. Coaches want to see a second color option, a parent suggests a different font, someone asks for bigger numbers. When you start in November, each round of feedback happens calmly. In February, every change feels like a risk to opening day.

2. You avoid the spring rush

Spring baseball, softball and lacrosse all start within a few weeks of each other. From January onward, uniform makers across the industry get busy, and lead times stretch everywhere. Ordering early keeps your team at the front of the queue instead of at the back.

3. Sizing has time to happen properly

Collecting sizes from 12 to 15 families always takes longer than expected. Starting in November means:

  • Parents can measure instead of guessing.
  • Nobody misses the deadline because of holiday travel.
  • You can pass a sample jersey around at a winter workout.

4. Easier fundraising and payments

Knowing your exact uniform cost in November gives you the whole winter to:

  • Approach sponsors before their new-year budgets are set.
  • Run a fundraiser over the holidays.
  • Collect fees from families gradually instead of all at once in March.

5. Holiday excitement

Some teams reveal the new design at a holiday party or give players their new hoodie or jersey as a gift. It builds excitement for the season and keeps players connected over winter.

6. A calm start to the season

With uniforms in hand weeks before the first game, coaches can focus on practices, lineups and tournament logistics, not tracking a delivery the week of opening day.

"But our roster isn't final yet"

That is normal. You can split the order into two steps:

  1. Now: approve the design and colors.
  2. Later (January): send final sizes, names and numbers.

Approving the design early locks in your look and lets production start quickly once the roster is set.

"What if a player joins later?"

Also normal. Order one or two spare jerseys with no names, or order single jerseys later from your design on file. There is no minimum for reorders.

A simple November plan

  • This week: send your logo and colors for a free mockup (usually within 24 hours).
  • Next two weeks: review options with coaches and approve a design.
  • December: send the sizing form to families with a firm deadline.
  • Early January: send the final roster.
  • Production: 10–12 working days after you approve, then duty-paid delivery to your door.

The bottom line

Ordering in November costs nothing extra and buys you time, choice and peace of mind. The teams that look sharpest on opening day are usually the ones that ordered first.
