Fabric guide

The right fabric for your climate, your cut and your budget.

Every Stitchfields fabric is a sublimation-grade polyester knit, so colors stay bright and graphics never crack, peel or fade. Here's how they compare.

Which jersey fabric should we choose?

ProKnit Interlock (180 gsm) for most teams; AirMesh Micro (160 gsm) for hot Southern summers; FlexFit 4-Way Stretch for fitted fastpitch cuts; Heritage Heavyweight (220 gsm) for a premium pro button-front look.

Fabric questions

What is the best fabric for sublimated baseball jerseys?

For most travel baseball teams, a 180 gsm 100% polyester interlock is the best all-round choice: smooth for sharp printing, durable and comfortable. Hot-climate teams should choose a 160 gsm micromesh, and teams wanting a premium pro feel can choose a 220 gsm heavyweight interlock.

What fabric is best for fastpitch softball jerseys?

Fitted fastpitch cuts work best in a polyester-spandex blend (around 88/12) with 4-way stretch, which moves with pitchers and catchers. For a looser cut in hot weather, micromesh or birdseye is cooler.

Why can't sublimation be printed on cotton?

Sublimation dye only bonds with polyester fibers. On cotton the ink washes out, so all sublimated uniforms use polyester or polyester-spandex fabrics.

What does gsm mean?

GSM is grams per square meter, the weight of the fabric. Higher gsm is heavier and more durable; lower gsm is lighter and cooler. Jerseys typically range from 150 to 220 gsm.
